Product Guarantee
ProPERLA Facade Coating comes with a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee but has been proven to perform for 25 years. When tested under 25 year accelerated weathering conditions there was no deterioration in performance or aesthetic appearance.
Super Hydrophobic
ProPERLA Wood Impregnator creates a super hydrophobic surface which keeps the exterior wood dry.
A surface is considered super hydrophobic if a water droplet beads up (with a contact angle greater than 150⁰) and the droplets can slide away from the surface readily. Super hydrophobic surfaces repel water, causing it to form beads because it is more attracted to itself than the surface. This means water will run off the surface making it extremely difficult to wet.
This is known as the ‘lotus effect’ due to its similarity to the lotus leaf but is also seen on duck feathers and butterfly wings.
Wooden surfaces which have been treated with the waterproof coating will respond in the same way – water will form droplets and won’t penetrate the timber.
Highly Breathable
Not only does ProPERLA Wood Impregnator keep the wood dry but it allows moisture to escape by not trapping the vapour inside. It has an SD breathability rating of 0.03 – a coating is considered to be breathable if it has an SD value of 0.50 or less, as shown by Lucideon.

Wood left exposed to the adverse effects of the weather can result in rot and a continual damaging cycle of swelling and contracting which can lead to cracking, warping and shrinking.

Application
The waterproof coating for wood is a one-coat system.
Surfaces less than one year old may be coated with minimal preparation.
Older surfaces must first be cleaned thoroughly with a pressure washer before treatment.
